The Takata airbag randomly deploys sending razor-sharp metal shards throughout the passenger cabin like setting off a grenade. People have been blinded or killed when the metal severed their carotid artery in their neck causing unstoppable and lethal loss of blood.

Thursday, June 14, 2018 - The Takata airbag randomly deploys sending razor-sharp metal shards throughout the passenger cabin like setting off a grenade. People have been blinded or killed when the metal severed their carotid artery in their neck causing unstoppable and lethal loss of blood.

This announcement goes out to everyone that owns a motor vehicle in the United States. By now everyone should be aware that they may be driving a car or a truck that is subject to recall due to the faulty and potentially deadly Takata airbag. The largest motor vehicle recall in US history is currently underway and every driver must heed this warning. If you have not already had the airbags on your vehicle replaced, you need to take action immediately. Do not assume that your vehicle is not subject to the recall.

The first step is to go to your vehicle and get your vehicle's registration card and locate the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Once you have done that, go online and visit the NHTSA.gov website. Locate the Takata airbag recall page and enter your VIN to see if your car contains the deadly airbags and is subject to the recall. If the answer is no, it does not, no worries but if your car is subject to the recall park it and do not drive it again. Your life may be in grave danger as 23 people are known to have been killed by the airbag and hundreds of more people seriously injured.

Every motor vehicle company is acutely aware of the Takata airbag problem and have set up mobile repair teams to come out to your parked car and remotely replace the Takata airbags at absolutely no cost to you. If they can not get right out to you, your auto dealer is required to loan you a similar, yet safe vehicle for you to drive until they can do so. If you purchased the car from a third party, you only have to call the local dealer of your make and model of car. You do not have to be the original owner of the vehicle for it to be subject to the recall.

To date, less than half of the effective motor vehicles have complied with the safety recall and state legislators are beginning to get worried. More and more states are forcing drivers attempting to renew their registration or driver's license to check first to see if they have complied with the recall and if they have not are refusing to renew their driving priveledges.

The Takata airbag recall is very serious. The Department of Transportation has placed two makes of vehicles, 2006 Ford Ranger and Mazda trucks on its "do not drive" list. These vehicles are the most likely to have a Takata airbag accident. Legislators, upset with the slow pace of the Takata airbag recall are mulling fining automobile companies to get them to do more to contact potential recall candidates.
